The Late Victorian Society of Melbourne partnered with the Altona Laverton Historical Society for a fully immersive Victorian experience at the Altona Homestead last week. Living historians dressed for the era presented life in that period, giving visitors a sense of stepping back in time to Victorian Melbourne. This was a fitting event given that the Altona Homestead was one of the first homestead built on the Port Phillip foreshore and is an important part of the heritage of Altona and Melbourne’s west. Its rooms portray everyday life from 1840 through to the mid 1900’s.
The Late Victorian Society of Melbourne (LVSM) is a vastly growing social group, bringing together diverse people from across Australia interested in recreating the amazing aspects of history in the later Victorian era of 1870 to 1910.
LVSM was established in 2021 to become a home for likeminded individuals and groups to create period events and activities for Victorian era romanticists.

The Altona-Laverton Historical Society looks forward inviting this splendid group to the Homestead in the near future.
