When Altona joined Melbourne’s Electric Rail Network
October 1, 2026November 11, each year, marks the day that the Armistice was signed which ended the fighting in World War 1 (1918).
Along with ANZAC Day, it is a time for all of us to pause and remember those who served and died while in military service. We ask that you not only remember those from WW1 but also those who served in WW2, Korea, Vietnam and the conflicts and peacekeeping operations that saw Australian men and women serve.
Whether you choose to observe a minute’s silence at 11am, wear a poppy or badge, or attend a memorial service, help keep the legacy of our service people alive on Remembrance Day. Many young men and women from our local suburbs have served in all conflicts and some have paid the ulimate sacrifice.
And, so we ask that at the 11th hour of the 11th November take a moment to remember those who have given so that we can live in freedom.
