International Women’s Day

On 8 March 2025, celebrate International Women’s Day under the theme, “For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment.”

This year’s theme calls for action that can unlock equal rights, power and opportunities for all and a feminist future where no one is left behind. Central to this vision is empowering the next generation—youth, particularly young women and adolescent girls—as catalysts for lasting change.

It is time to remember and celebrate pioneering women who trailblazed for equality. In 1925, Millicent Stanley-Preston became the second woman to enter government in Australia, behind Edith Cowan, in Western Australia. Millicent was also among the first women in New South Wales to become a Justice of the Peace and served as president of the Women Justices Association from 1923 to 1926. Throughout her life, Preston-Stanley advocated for women’s rights, health reform, and temperance.

We encourage you to share International Women’s Day stories and messages on digital platforms, using the hashtag #ForAllWomenAndGirls to spark dialogue and inspire action.
