If you visit the Esplanade end of Pier Street you will notice new piles beginning to appear adjacent to the end of the existing pier. You will also notice that the new pier will align with Pier Street, when work is completed. When works are complete, the 310-metre new pier will have a total of 137 piles in place as structural supports.

Works will continue over the coming months with pile installation ongoing, and the removal of the existing pier getting underway.

We were also visited by a journalist from the ABC who was keen to see what the new pier development will look like and what the community think of the new design and its realignment.
