It is with deep regret that we share the sad news that our dear friend, long standing member and President, Owen Hyde, passed away on Friday afternoon, 10 March 2023.

Owen had been admitted to the St Vincent’s Hospital, Melbourne, about three weeks ago and the underwent open heart surgery on Thursday, 9 March.

All of our members, as well as those at the Truganina Explosive Reserve, where Owen also volunteered. We will all miss Owen’s cheery smile and many stories of when he grew up in and around Altona.

We are all the richer for having had the privilege of knowing Owen and our society has benefited from his drive. Owen will be sadly missed by all.
