After conducting services in a building that was transferred from Laverton in 1933, the building was demolished in 1969 to make way for a new Church Centre that was constructed by local builder H & L Weaver Pty Ltd. Work started with the demolition of the old building in early November with the first sod of soil tuned over by the Venerable Robert Dann.
The new Church includes some unusual features including the narthex (gathering area), vestry, hall, a shop and kitchen as well as the church itself. The design was intended to be in line with Anglican churches built in England. It is said that there is a time capsule inserted within the front entrance of the building.
The official opening of the new Church Centre was on 12 September 1970 by the Archbishop of Melbourne, Dr Frank Woods. The congregation included past clergy of the church, clergy of other denominations, clergy from other Anglican churches within the area, the Mayor and Councillors.
